The teaser poster
which you've probably seen before
The official poster
With the end of Tenchijin, the publicity for Ryoma-den can finally begin. First the trailer, now the Official Poster. The one revealed in August was simply a promotional poster for Ryoma to be the next "Face of NHK". The one disclosed today is the real Poster for the drama.
The appeal of this poster lies in the (impressive) ability of Fukuyama-san to reproduce the look (eyes / expresssion) of Sakamoto Ryoma. What is Ryoma the visionary thinking about?
"To make waves, to stir up wind" (written on the poster)
Refined and subtle, Fukuyama-san's expression brings out the strong will of Ryoma, with the clouds in the background and the wind in his hair adding further to the dramatic effect. Fukuyama-san was relaxed and natural at the photoshoot and it was finished in less time than scheduled. Doesn't Fukuyama-san's expression tell you something? How he is worried about the future of Japan, how he dreams of a better future, it all flows out so naturally......
Where do you think this poster was taken? In Katsurahama (Kochi), Nagasaki or on a ship.......it was in Shibuya. To be exact, it was on the rooftop helicopter pad of the NHK Broadcasting Tower facing the skyscrapers of Shinjuku. This helicopter pad has been used occassionally for TV filming.
The posters will be distributed to all NHK offices around the country from today onwards, to be displayed at the lobby of all TV stations by this weekend. It is also displayed starting today at the entrance of Studio Park and within, as well as the outside Harajuku JR station.

My favourite from the interview pictures
Looking rather serene and filled with heavy burden
