UPDATES - 10.07.2010
Clearer version of the song taken from the end scene of the series! Good song even if sounds morose. Anyway embedding not allowed and so you need to click here for the youtube video. I shall wait for the full song tonight!

And the lyrics in Kanji taken from HK Fans Discussion Forums...

UPDATES - 10.07.2010
The following is the trailer for the series Mioka and you can hear, faintly the song Hotaru. Faintly because I can't hear much! Anyway song debuting later today on ANN!!

UPDATES - 04.07.2010
Just read the snippets that Masha himself said that the full song will be broadcast in next ANN broadcast on 10.07.2010. The series will be broadcast before that so I am sure we will have a short sample before the full broadcast.

ORIGINALLY POSTED ON 11.06.2010

There I was still waiting for full songs such as Shonen, the Revolution//Evolution and wham! A new song announced! Am very happy to announce that there will officially be a new single coming soon entitled Hotaru or Fireflies. So far no sample sounds but I will sure to update you all on this. From the news it seems this song is expected to do very well and to compare it with Sakurazaka whether in quality or in sales is a rather high expectation. Anyway no release date yet but once the drama is out, the song is out which means no later than 10th July 2010 then. I hope it does do well. I am sure he will comment on this is his ANN show at some point before the official release.

Hotaru by Fukuyama could exceed Sakurazaka

Singer-Actor Fukuyama Masaharu (41) will provide a new theme song 「蛍」(fireflies) (Release date: TBA) for the drama starring Yoshitaka Yuriko (21). Despite his busy schedule filming for NHK taiga drama, Ryomaden (Sunday 8pm) he still managed to write a song that gives out a feeling like Auld Lang Syne. It is said the new work could exceed his masterpiece, Sakurazaka

Fukuyama achieved success as Sakamoto Ryoma on Sunday night as well as success in his core business: Music.

Mioka, which is adapted from the same novel as Ira Ishida is about a love story between a girl with incurable brain disease (Yoshitaka) and a Taichi, a student (Hayashi Kento). It's the story about last love. Inspired by the story, Fukuyama wrote a song that has the same feeling as Auld Lang Syne. There's a confident that the song will be acceptable since Sakurazaka sold 2.5 million copies while Hatsukoi achieved a 1.15 million downloads.

Since he was involved with Ryomaden, he could only record the song between shooting. When the filming has ended in the evening, he holed himself in the studio until morning and used his spare times to sleep in NHK dressing room. Stamina and mental strength are needed, he's alternating between always sleeping and also gives out the energy will live forever. Astounding physical strength and willpower, the staff around him are all exclaiming "he's indestructable" and "when is he ever going to sleep?"

The reason he could do this is because he gets his energy from music. This is another step for Fukuyama Masaharu after he spent 21 years in the industry. The new sound gave him motivation to give his best. This is the song he spent his heart and soul on, working day and night

The drama producer, Katou Masatoshi says: I want to send a message to the hero from the girl that is so full of love. Yoshitaka Yuriko says, Mioka is about a transition between two worlds and I'm working hard for it to be a great drama. I'm happy that Fukuyama, a senior in the music industry can provide the song for it.

Fukuyama Masaharu will provide the theme song Hotaru for NTV's Saturday Drama

Fukuyama Masaharu (41) will provide a theme song for NTV's Saturday Drama, Mioka, starring Yoshitaka Yuriko (21). It's adapted from the original novel by Ira Ishida, about a girl who's still fall in love despite having an incurable disease. According to the producer, when he first heard about the story, the first person he would ask about the theme song is Fukuyama I want to send a message on the way the hero lives his life, and he's the person to do so. It would be a perfect combination between drama and music.

SNIPPETS
It seems this song is similar or may be a reworked version of the instrumental music heard in the TV movie Tengoku no Daisuke he/To Daisuke In Heaven. Some mighty sharp eared fans said the music can be heard at 1hr54min35secs (just watch the version as posted in the link to the TV movie page). Very sharp ears indeed!!

For comparison, the Daisuke instrumental clip.
