Ryoma-Den : Official DVD to be released soon! & details about pre-ordering

Apart from the upcoming Ryoma-Den Photobook to be released in July 2010, the following news may appeal to collectors although I am not sure if it comes with English subtitles as an option. I have a feeling the answer is no.

Thanks to River for the news, originally from this source.

For the first time ever, a taiga drama will have a DVD released during its run. This was deemed the fastest ever DVD release for a taiga drama. Usually the DVD will be released the next year after it has finished its run. But not Ryomaden. One of the reason why the series could be released this soon is due to the high-production standard (more like the Fukuyama Masaharu effect & potential profits -Funn).

Box 1 will consist of 4-disc of Season 1 episodes, which will be released on the 22nd Sept 2010. Box 2 (Season 2)  is scheduled for release in Nov 2010, Box 3 (Season 3) in Jan 2011 while Box 4 (Season 4)  is expected to be out in March 2011. For those who gets the Limited Edition disc, there's a package for you to store the all four-boxes in there. Blu-ray will also be available on the same day.

4 discs for 13 episodes? Roughly 3 episodes per disc? Later ones probably more discs. I am sure the encoding will be highest quality, and I am not talking about Blu-ray! Hopefully the creators might bundle in also images, facts, conceptualisation, documentaries and the making of segments to make the discs worth the price, like the Lord Of The Rings DVD release, probably the best in the market for the DVD specials.

Anyway, thanks to Izumisano for the information on where to pre-order (with some fair discount prices which are the ones listed here) where international buyers are welcomed:-

- Amazon : Normal DVD [¥ 18,648/RM653/USD204]
- Amazon : Blu-ray  [¥ 20,513/RM718/USD225]
- Rakuten [between ¥ 18,648/RM653/USD205-¥ 22,176/RM777/USD243]
- HMV : Normal DVD [¥ 19,908/RM697/USD218]
- HMV : Blu-ray  [¥ 23,562/RM825/USD258]

As you can see, the price differences between normal and Blu-ray isn't much, surprisingly. And they're very expensive considering for the same price for one box you can get the entire Jewel In The Palace series in DVD and in a nice box with credible English/Chinese/Malay subtitles. And Amazon does seem to offer the best deal but before ordering do put into consideration the postage charges, all in the end may come up to more or less the same price.

BROS members can purchase the same DVDs as well, except the price quoted is full price BUT you will get some special gift, not sure what, perhaps special edition poster. Anyway in case you're curious, you may see ASmart for the offer. I think that is Blu-ray version. Full price is ¥25,200/MYR882/USD277.

Sometimes I receive some media files or stuff about Masha that can't be publicly shared, but I can however share privately, such as concert clips, etc. I would love to share whatever I got with you, as a way of disseminating information of Masha to the masses. You probably have all that stuff if you're an experienced fan, but if you are new to Masha or does not know other experienced fans, you probably won't have most of what I can send to you. I don't send emails often, since frankly I don't get such stuff often but when I do, I will send the link if I am allowed to do so. So do join my contact list but be reminded, you're not allowed to repost/redistribute/reupload whatever I send you whether in whole or in part. Anyone interested, redirect them to my blog and ask them to join my contact list. But this is only open to those who will answer the questions in the form below accurately. If you're successful, you will receive quite a few emails since I group all links together into categorised documents. If you're not, I will email and inform why (probably answered some wrongly, such as title not in Romaji or wrong answer). Once you found the answer, please RESUBMIT THE FORM. If you did not receive my emails (whether the many materials or rejection email) within 3 days of joining, please do resend your request. Thanks for joining!
