薩長同盟ぜよ/sat-cho doumei ze yo/The Satsuma-Choshu Alliance 
Ryoma and Miyoshi, samurai of the Choshu clan placed to guard Ryoma by Katsura, who is renamed as Kido, arrive in Kyoto where Ryoma is to meet Saigo and Kido to negotiate the alliance between the Satsuma and the Choshu clans. However, Ryoma is unable to enter the Satsuma clan's residence for the shogunate had placed the residence under strict surveillance. Kido insists that he will not start a negotiation until Ryoma comes. Meanwhile, Yataro, who came to Kyoto to spy on Satsuma, is mistaken for Ryoma and caught by Shinsengumi. Ryoma finally succeeds in forming the Satsuma-Choshu alliance while Shinsengumi and officials search for Ryoma as the mastermind behind the alliance.

Ryoma visited Choujiro's wife and gave them the picture (not group picture but individual picture of him sitting on a chair here in Episode 34). Shinsengumi mistook Yataro for Ryoma. At the Teradaya. I think he (Ryoma) knows he is being hunted by the shinsengumi.  Oryo gets panicked and tried to hide the man, but he refuses.  Ryoma thanked her. he inn keeper said something about Oryo and shinsengumi. He wanted to see Oryo before he leaves. she is supporting his cause. And they touched hands. yataro is saved.  Yataro and Ryoma meet each other.  Ryoma had to go meet with the Satsuma-Chosu meeting place. finally ryoma arrives. Ryoma had to make Katsura and Saigo move closer to each other.  Oryo brought a person from Satsuma to secretly escort Ryoma to the meeting place. Along the way, they past shinsengumi office and saw them throwing out Yataro. Yes.  The meeting was a success! The alliance is in place.

next week episode where Ryoma was attacked & was injured. And Ryoma fires his gun for the first time. And Oryo was running out from her bath to warn Ryoma of the attack. there's blood on ryoma's hand. Ryoma gave her his yukata too cos she just had one layer on. He's saying sorry to everyone 'cos he was going to die.

Lots of people are arguing about the needs of Yataro to get involved in Shisengumi affair. We were informed it does not follow history. And the alliance between Satsuma and Choshu... that's it? To be fair, no one exactly know what goes on behind the scene during that alliance. As for Yataro's appearance, well, in episode 1, it's already established that Yataro and Ryoma knows each other in childhood. Which does not follow history either.
